I was raised in a typical medical oriented family, with no chiropractic. There was no chiropractic, not so much out of prejudice, but out of ignorance. When I was 12, I started having allergy problems and would sleep all day. I started taking medications from our medical doctor which became stronger with time. I lived on antihistamines and antibiotics. When I was in high school, I slept all class due to the medications. In college I missed over a month of school because I was so weak and sick. I was seeing a E.N.T. doctor and I asked him what was making my body allergic to so many things and others were not? He had no reply and said he had no idea what was causing my problem, and at $40 every 5 minutes I told him I was not interested in treating symptoms and not addressing the cause. I told him I knew the nervous system controlled every cell and organ, and why not send me to a neurologist so they could study what was interfering with it . My understanding is that if something is malfunctioning, and the nervous system controls the function, why look anywhere else. I was told they would not look for the cause either, and treat me with medications.
I visited a chiropractor and learned how the nervous system controlled everything and after receiving adjustments from a Gonstead chiropractor in 3 weeks I threw all of my medications away. I knew I was in the right profession, and there is not a day I don't wake up and thank God for his gift of health and the blessing of helping others. Chiropractic is too good to remain a secret. If you have never been to a Gonstead chiropractor, check it out, and if you have been exposed to it, tell others. Dr David C. Moore
